
Bridport Town Council is responsible for the management of the Cemetery, including the Woodland Burial Area. Bridport Cemetery was opened in 1856 when St Mary’s Churchyard in South Street was closed to new burials. The original entrance to the cemetery was on the Dorchester Road where the old gates can still be seen. The main entrance is located along Lower Walditch Lane.
Burial plots can be purchased in advance apart from in our Woodland Burial Area. There is, therefore, no exclusive right of burial in the Woodland Section.

The Cemetery is open to the public from 8.00am to 6.00pm. These times may vary in the summer.
