Reminder for Housing Register applicants ahead of September policy changes
Please see the release reminding Housing Register applicants to complete their renewals.
Residents on Dorset Council’s Housing Register are being reminded to renew their application before the new Housing Allocations Policy comes into effect on 1 September 2026.
Existing applicants are being asked to review their details and confirm any changes so their circumstances can be assessed against the new policy criteria. Those applying from 1 September onwards will automatically be assessed under the new policy and do not need to renew.
Since May, applicants have been contacted through the customer portal and by text message.
Residents do not need to submit a new application. For most people, the process simply involves checking and updating their information if needed.
Applicants can continue bidding for available homes while renewals are being processed, although any outstanding renewal must be completed before a successful property application can progress.
Residents requiring assistance can contact the Housing Register team for support.
Dorset Council has shared this with county wide media.
